The Burlap Series
Golden Fibers of Nature
Painted on the floor and worked from both sides, until pigment soaks clear through the weave. Double-sided wall sculptures — textured and substantial, flexible enough to hang, suspend, or divide a room, and impossible to truly repeat.
Nothing I paint on starts blank. Every fiber — hemp, jute, linen, cotton — arrives with a past: cloth that once crossed the Silk Road and rigged the sails of ships.
Hemp is one of the strongest fibers on earth — Henry Ford built an entire car body from it, just to prove what these humble threads could hold.
So I don’t paint over their history. I paint with it — on the floor, from both sides, edges left raw.
